New Project: WHISPERS THE BLOOD by Danielle Renino

I am thrilled to announce that I will be starting a new project July first: editing Whispers the Blood by Danielle Renino!

Proof we have known each other for ages and that we both used to have long hair.

This project has quite literally been over a decade in the works: Danielle and I have known each other since middle school and she has been working on this book since around then. We got through all the awkwardness of middle school and the drama of high school together. In college we went our separate ways, but I followed her writing journey through social media from afar.

When I was first considering moving towards book editing after years of teaching college composition, I reached out to Danielle to see if she had any experience or advice from her time working with a literary agent. Instead of truisms, she told me she was thinking about self publishing and might be in need of an editor.

A few months later, and here we are!

I could not be more honored and excited to delve into this project and help prepare it for its publication on (of course) Halloween, 2022.

Whispers the Blood is a YA psychological thriller. Here is the summary:

"Seventeen-year-old Silvie’s life has been a cycle of death and resurrection for as long as she can remember, the surgical scar on her chest a constant reminder of the trauma her body has endured.

Her friend Nora is outgoing and assertive – everything that Silvie isn’t, and when she agrees to take them on an adventure, Silvie expects to spend the afternoon driving down back roads. Instead, they wind up in the backyard of an abandoned Victorian mansion, digging holes.

Nora is looking for something she buried, something dangerous, and she insists that Silvie will know what it is when they find it. But there are rules: Don’t scream. Don’t believe what you see. Remember, there is no such thing as coincidence.

It’s not a coincidence that Silvie and Nora look so similar, that Silvie’s childhood memories are hazy, or the house feels familiar. There’s something inside the old Victorian, in the walls, in the mirrors, and the truth will leave Silvie questioning exactly who – and what – she is."

You can follow the book's publishing journey and Danielle's other projects on her TikTok and instagram. Of course, stay tuned here for updates about this and other projects!
